Elston Lubbers, 79, Fresno, Calif., a former Webster City resident, died Tuesday morning, July 10, at his son's home in Fresno. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, Dr. Duane Smith officiating. The Foster Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Elston Lubbers, son of Lubbert and Wendelena (Reimers) Lubbers, was born March 27, 1911 on a farm near Webster City. He was educated in Webster City. He married Dorothea Fowler on Oct. 14, 1934, in Webster City. For five years, the couple resided in St. Louis, Mo., and later returned to Webster City, where he was a self-employed trucker for many years. Mr. Lubbers also worked for Consolidated Freight and Storage. He was preceded in death by his wife in February 1967. In September 1989, he moved to California.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter, Gary Lubbers, Lemorre, Calif.; James Lubbers, Tucson, Ariz.; and Marcia (Mrs. Leo) Powgnas, Duncombe; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Vern Lubbers, Webster City.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.
