Ula Mae Wilson, the daughter of Bert Boyd and Eulia Ethel (Scott) Wilson was born June 8, 1925 at her parent's home near Duncombe. She graduated from Stanhope Consolidated School in 1943. On January 9, 1944 she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Eugene Young in Boone. They farmed north of Stanhope until 2006. Ula Mae and Robert enjoyed dancing, especially polkas, wintering in Texas and Wednesday Night in the park. She worked for many years at the Stanhope Telephone Exchange and at the age when most retire she accepted the position of Director of Congregate Meals in Webster City. She tirelessly gave to her family, community and church. Grandma Robert, Grandma Ulie, and Grandma Oreo, three of the affectionate names she answered to, led by example and could instantly quiet a babies' cry with her gentle touch. She was a member of the Stanhope Parish, Spirit Group of the Stanhope Parish, Church Choir and coordinator for Wednesday Night in the Park. She was also a past member of the Stanhope Parish Board, Hamilton County Porkettes and Royal Neighbors of America. First and foremost, she loved being a farm wife.

Ula Mae is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David and Barbara Young of Stanhope, Bruce and Dwyla Young of Peculiar, MO and Rick and Janet Young of Jewell; 10 grand children; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert, her parents; sister, Lucille Hindricks and brother, Charles Wilson.
