Ayleen Lois Lyons, daughter of Bertrum C. and Anna (Klockman) Lyons, was born on April 1, 1922, on a farm near Blue Earth, Minnesota. Later the family moved to a farm in the Saratoga area south of Webster City. Ayleen attended a country school and then attended Lincoln High School in Webster City. On November 23, 1939, she married Leslie Eggers at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Webster City. She and Les farmed the family farm north of Kamrar. In October, 2007, they moved to 204 Bicentennial Court in Webster City. Les passed away on January 29, 2008.

Ayleen is survived by her children, Gretchen and Henry Anderson of Webster City, Bill and Marilyn Eggers of Webster City, Kathy and Chuck Murphy of Iowa City, and Delbert and Rita Eggers of Webster City; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les, her parents, granddaughter, Julie Marie Eggers and great-granddaughter, Kylie Marie Eggers. She was the last living of her siblings; sisters, Helen Bargain and Louise Broas; brothers, Victor, Harley, Garvin and Jim Lyons.

Ayleen was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She loved adventure. She liked riding horses and was active in the Hamilton County Saddle Club. She liked hiking, canoeing, swimming and boating. She and Les spent 26 years on the Florida Keys where they enjoyed fishing and the warm weather. While they were there, they were members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary where they often used their own boat to go out on missions. Later they wintered for 12 years in Mesa, Arizona. For many years, they spent their summers at Lake of the Woods on the Minnesota/Canadian border where they enjoyed fishing and the people with whom they were close friends throughout the years. Ayleen also liked flying and had a private pilot's license. She and Les did a lot of flying around the area here and also took the family to Minnesota to fish or visit relatives. Ayleen was a member of the Independence Friendly Neighbors Club and the WDK Club, which was a group of "girls" who have been together since high school. She was a 4-H Club leader and took many girls to 4-H camp through the years. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They all have very many memories of the adventures they did with "Gram".
