Toshiko "Peggy" Powell, 86, of Webster City, died Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Southfield Wellness Community. A gathering will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Private family burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.

Toshiko Tanaka, daughter of Yoshitaro and Iyono Okazaki Tanaka, was born on January 16, 1929 in Fukuoka, Japan. She received her education and seamstress training in Japan. On December 6, 1956 she married Wilbur Dean Powell in Fukuoka City, Japan. The couple moved to Webster City in 1958. She worked at the Hamilton County Hospital for seven years and was a seamstress who sewed many cheerleading outfits and wedding dresses over the years.

Peggy is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Barbara (David) Morris of Mission, KS; Bernice Kenaston of Anaheim, CA; son, David Powell of Des Moines; grandchildren, Stephanie (James) Bates, Alex Morris of Mission, KS; Abby, Jake, Sam, Luke and Josh Powell of Des Moines; three sisters and two brothers in Japan and many extended family in Japan and Iowa.

Peggy enjoyed knitting, taking care of her flowers, her garden and most of all, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and her parents, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
