J.M. WIENTJES IS SUMMONED BY DEATH

Passes Away at Home on Union Street at Age of 78.

J.M. Wientjes, retired farmer residing at 1110 Union street, died suddenly at his home Monday afternoon following an attack of influenza. Mr. Wientjes, who has made his home in this city for the past twelve years, had enjoyed good health until only about twenty-four hours before his death. Early Monday morning his slight attack of the flu suddenly took a turn for the worse and he gradually grew weaker until he sank to his death.

Mr. Wientjes was born in Germany in 1847. He came to this country while still a lad and settled in Illinois. He came to Iowa in 1863 and moved to a farm in Grundy county. Two years later he moved to his farm southeast of this city where he had made his home until he moved to this city twelve years ago.

Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his passing two sons, Martin and Geo., who reside on their father's farm southeast of this city, and two brothers, Fred and Ulvert, both of this city.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home and at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church at Kamrar with Rev. H.N. Gerdes, of Kamrar, officiating.

[headstone says born in 1846]
