Howard E. Breitenkamp, 89, life-long Webster City resident passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Van Diest Medical Center. The family will greet friends during visitation at Fosters Funeral and Cremation Center on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10: 00 a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Eichler officiating. Burial will follow the services at Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #191.

Howard Eldo Breitenkamp, son of Walter and Wilhelmina (Kindt) Breitenkamp, was born on the family farm north of Highview on December 12, 1925. He joined the US Navy in February of 1944 serving on Liberty Ships as part of the Armed Guard in support of the Pacific Fleet. Howard received his diploma from Webster City High School while aboard the USS William H. Gray in New Guinea. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in May of 1946 and returned to Webster City to farm.

On January 15, 1950 he married Lucille Ann Bateman at St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City. They lived on a farm near Duncombe until moving in 1966 to their home in Webster City.

Throughout his life Howard farmed, served as a rural mail carrier, a dispatcher at Luppes Transport, and was managing partner of Kautzky Sporting Goods in Fort Dodge. He was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #191 and served on the Boone Valley Housing Board for many years.

Howard is survived by his children Pam (Mike) Robinson of Leawood, KS; Janet (Loran) Seiser of Webster City; Jay (Polly) Breitenkamp of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Gavin Robinson of Fort Worth TX, Kirt (Emily) Seiser of Eagan MN, Justin (Meggie) Seiser of Clive, Keri Seiser of Mason City, Ava and Cece Breitenkamp of Kansas City, MO great-grandson, Henry Seiser, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Wilhelmina; wife, Lucille; daughters, Brita and Karen; step-mother, Bertha (Klockman) Breitenkamp; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard(Pauline) Breitenkamp; sister and brother-in-law, Juanita (Don) Meyer; father-in-law Jim Bateman, mother-in-law Jeannette Bateman, brother-in-law Jack (Violette) Bateman and sister-in-law Evelyn (Lynn) Richardson.
