Arlen L. Wells, 74, of Webster City, died, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Southfield Wellness Community. He had been in failing health for the past year. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Arlen LeRoy Wells, son of Clarence and Mildred LaMee Wells, was born February 15, 1941 at Bancroft, Iowa. The family moved to Webster City in 1943. He received his education in Webster City Schools, graduating from Lincoln High in 1959. From 1961 to 1964, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre aboard the USS Coral Sea as a machinist's mate. He had worked as an endloader operator for Maudlin Construction, Weaver's and Martin Marietta for 34 years. He had wintered at Westlaco, TX for 19 years.

Mr. Wells is survived by sisters, Joyce Odegaard of Webster City and Jeanne Williams of Ames; brothers, Jerry (Carol) Wells and Terry (Donna) Wells, all of Webster City; brother-in-law; Allen Kunz of Blairsburg; several nieces and nephews.

Arlen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Layton Wells and Francis Wells; sisters, Phyllis Barker, Patricia Hilpipre, Sandy Kunz, and sister in infancy, Rosemary; sister-in-law, Patsey Wells; brothers-in-law, James "Red" Barker, Clifford Odegaard, Marvin Williams and Glen Hilpipre.

He was a 50 year member of American Legion Post # 191 and the V.F.W. He was a longtime member of the Moose Family Center. He also enjoyed dirt track racing, NASCAR racing, playing cards with friends and family. Nieces and nephews loved him as "Uncle Jelly Bean" and as "Uncle Grump."
