Dies Short Time After Being Taken to Doctor's Office
JEWELL, Iowa, Dec. 13 - Henry M. Larson, 53, a veteran of the World war, was fatally injured late yesterday afternoon when he fell from a tree which he was trimming across the street from his home.
He dropped about 25 feet striking his head and fracturing his skull.
He died a short time later in the office of Dr. E. W. Slater, Jewell physician. No Inquest was held, although Dr. W. B. Lewis, Webster City, county coroner, was notified. Several eyewitnesses and Larson, himself, a few minutes before his death, said it was accidental.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the home and 2 p.m. at the Lutheran church in Jewell. Fleenor's in charge.
Larson was widely known in the Jewell community where he had lived all his life. The family home was two miles south and a half mile west of Jewell. After moving to town they lived about a block south of the Jewell Lutheran church on Main street.
He was unmarried. He leaves to mourn his death three brothers, Andrew, John and Lewis, of Jewell, and four sisters, the Misses Olive and Alydia Larson, of Des Moines; Mrs. Julius Miller and Miss Elizabeth Larson, of Jewell.
His mother, Mrs. O. J. Larson, died about a year ago. The father died more than 25 years ago and one brother, Emil, died overseas during the World war.
Larson, who also saw service overseas during the World war, was a member of Hawkeye post, of the American Legion at Jewell. He was a mechanic by trade and had been employed at several implement stores at Jewell.
