She never met a stranger! Her mottos in life: "How can I help?" and "I would rather wear out, then rust out."

Myra placed serious meaning to the word VOLUNTEERISM! As a member of the First Congregational Church many members benefitted from her "How can I help?" attitude; church organist for 27 years, church financial secretary, Women's Fellowship Mayflower Circle and a mentor to Confirmation students. Other areas of volunteerism were bookkeeper for Webster City Congregate Meals, bookkeeper for Webster City Day Care, volunteer driver for community members needing transportation, delivered Meals On Wheels, was a volunteer at the Van Diest Medical Center, volunteered with the D.A.R. each year, was a generous supporter of Hamilton County Crime Stoppers, she was a member of and sister of the Chapter PE of PEO, she was honored as Volunteer of the Year from Morning Kiwanis, she was honored as Citizen of the Year by Webster City in 2012, volunteer treasurer of the Thanksgiving In Gathering, hosted by Asbury UMC. Many people enjoyed her holiday gatherings, along with the chili, caroling and the sharing, she also placed much importance in the annual Christmas Meal at Asbury; she played for many weddings in the Webster City area, when ever needed for her musical talent, Myra was there.

She was an outstanding supporter of Iowa Central Community College, she was a board member of the Van Diest Medical Center and was very much a part of her church, but was also very supportive of all of Webster City's church's with her music.

Myra Ann Graves, daughter of Archie and Thelma Scoby Graves, was born December 9, 1946 in Des Moines. She received her education in the Fort Dodge schools, graduating from Fort Dodge high school in 1965. She attended Iowa Central Community College and University Northern Iowa receiving her Masters in Business Education in 1970. She later moved to Webster City. Myra had been an I.C.C.C. instructor for 40 years in the Business Office Education department. On November 19, 1983, she married Max Donald Maxon at the First Baptist Church in Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. Mr. Maxon died April 9, 1996.

Myra is survived by step-children, Alan and Jan Maxon and Laraine Crawford, all of Webster City; Martha and John West of Minburn; seven step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, T. Rae Graves.

Myra enjoyed her fishing trips to Minnesota, Van Diest Supply trips, playing cards, Music, PEOPLE, pets and her church family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational U.C.C. with Rev. Craig Blaufuss officiating. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015.
