George M. Teed, 72, widely-known Webster City jeweler, died at 8:30 last evening at his home following an extended illness.

Mr. Teed has been active in the drug and jewelry business in Webster City for the past 54 years.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at Foster's funeral home with the Rev. S. T. Lenters officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

George Martin Teed was born Oct. 17, 1875, in Webster City, the son of Adella J. and George W. Teed. He received his education and grew to young manhood in Webster City, entering the drug and jewelry business with his father in 1893. He continued in business up until several months ago when illness forced him to retire.

Mr. Teed was married to Laura B. Buell of this city, on Oct. 20, 1897, and the family has made its home in this city ever since that time. Throughout his life Mr. Teed was active in community and civic organizations, being a member of the Masonic lodge, the Rotary club, the Elks lodge and the Congregational church.

He served his country in the army during the Spanish-American war, attaining the rank of first lieutenant.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. John (Helen) Hackley, of Cherryvale, Kan., two sons, George W. and James C., both of this city, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Teed. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Frances) Tatham.
