Former City Resident Dies at Age of 71

Services are planned at Kansas City Friday afternoon and at the Foster Funeral home in Webster City Saturday morning for George H. Detlor, former Webster City resident, who died Tuesday at the age of 71 at his home in Kansas City.

Services in this city will begin at 10 am. with the Rev. Lenters officiating and burial in Graceland cemetery.

Mr. Detlor was born in Webster City Feb. 29, 1876, the son of Byard and Ella Bowman Detlor His father was a pioneer druggist in this city and was in partnership with the late George W. Teed.

The Detlor home for many years was on the southeast corner of Willson avenue and Walnut street. Mr. Detlor attended the public schools here and was graduated from Webster City high school. He was an active member of the Congregational church.

His business career began in Webster City when he accepted a position as bookkeeper for the Crary Hardware store. Later, because of his ability, he occupied responsible positions in Chicago and in Warren, Pa. Several years ago he engaged in business in Kansas City.

Mr. Detlor was preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by his wife, Florence, two sisters, Miss Gertrude Detlor and Mrs. Archie (Zadie) Larson of Weiser, Idaho, and two brothers, Harry of Kansas City and Byard of Los Angeles.

His devotion and loyalty to his family and his family interests were outstanding motives in his life and for this and other fine characteristics he is held in honor by all who knew him.
