Russell Anders age 85, of Williams, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday February 6th, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams with burial in the Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams. In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established.

Russell Wendell Anders of Williams, Ia. was born on September 19, 1929 to Ernest and Velma Anders and passed away on January 31, 2015. At the age of 85 years. Russell attended Popejoy School and Graduated from Popejoy High School. He enjoyed playing Basketball and Baseball, more than the classroom aspect of school. Russell was drafted in to the Army during the Korean War. He served most of his time in the service as a guard in Germany Prison. His fondest memory was coming home to Popejoy when his time in the Army was done to he family and people he loved. He was a semi-driver for Schager's in Alden where he met Eleanor Hoversten and was later united in marriage on August 19, 1956. He work for several farmers threw his life and farmed for himself north of Alden. He then worked for Van Diest Supply in Webster City until he retired. Which he then continued to help with fall and spring field work. His union to Eleanor lasted 58 years until his death, an accomplishment he was very proud of. From this union four children where born, Peggy, Jeannette, Douglas, Holly. He enjoyed raising the children. Going camping with family and friends, Fishing, Big Band and Polka music. Driving threw the country side and looking at the crops and the landscape. He was a past member of the Popejoy United Church and a present member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams. He was a member of the Ellsworth and Williams legion, and the Williams Lion Club. He was a member of the William Park Board. Enjoyed taking care of the Park that he could watch out his window and helping with other communities’ activities as needed.

Russell is survived by his wife of 58 years Eleanor. His children Peggy (Rusty) Hockman of Jewell, Jeannette ( John) Gehrke of Audubon, Douglas Anders of Coulter, and Holly Gutting of Latimer. His grandchildren Ashley Hockman, Jeremy Hockman, Brandon ( Mindy) Gehrke, Bethany Gehrke, Lawrence Gutting and Megan Gutting. Great granddaughter Quinn Gehrke His sister, Rosemary Knebel; brothers, Merle Anders and his wife, Marcy and Bob Anders and his wife, Deb; and Step father Gary Echelberger.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Velma Anders, Step mother Marjorie Anders-Echelberger, son in law Larry Gutting and brother in law Guy Knebel.

Russ was a very kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
