Miner Haack, 85, a longtime Webster City resident, died Saturday at the Hamilton County hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Raymond Roden officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral home until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church.

Miner Haack, son of Meyel and Lena Haack, was born Nov. 9, 1886 at Parkersburg, Iowa. He was reared and educated in that area.

He was united in marriage Oct. 29, 1913 to Gertie Geerdes, and the couple made their home in the Wellsburg area where he was the owner and operator of a general store. In 1934, the family moved to Webster City where he owned and operated the Haack Shoe store until his retirement in 1943. The family continued to live in Webster City.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters: Mrs. David (Hila) Lane of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Robert (Marian) Lofgren of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Meyel (Bud) Haack of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Gordon Haack of South Bend, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Maggie Froning of Parkersburg, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church and the Elks lodge.
