Mrs. Frank B. Clerff, 69, lifelong resident of Webster City, died early this morning at the Hamilton county hospital where she had been a patient the past four weeks. She had been in ill health the past several years.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic church with the Rev. Msgr. A. A. Halbach officiating and with burial in the Calvary Catholic cemetery. Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Foster funeral home.

Ruth Addie Mertz, daughter of James. A. and Mary Katherine Mertz, was born April 3, 1894, at Webster City. She was reared and educated in this community.

She was united in marriage March 28, 1920, to Francis B. Clerff, and the couple resided in Webster City where Mr. Clerff engaged in the clothing business for many years.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bobby (Barbara) Riden of Oscoda, Mich., three grandchildren, Carol Lynne, Keith Alan and Paul Neal Riden; two brothers and three sisters, George A. Mertz, Harry J. Mertz, Opal Mertz and Mrs. Barney (Gertrude) Ermels, all of Webster City; and Mrs. Leonard (Velva) Jacobson, Ames; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ralph Mertz of Denver, Colo., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 10, 1958, by her parents and two brothers, Ralph and Lloyd Mertz.

Mrs. Clerff was a member of the St. Thomas Aquainas Catholic church and of the American Legion Auxiliary.
