Daily Freeman Journal, Saturday, December 28, 1935

Jorgen Olson, 82, died suddenly in his home Thursday evening from a heart attack. He was a pioneer resident. About 4 o'clock in the afternoon he and his wife went into the garage to take the battery from their car. While there, Mr. Olson complained of not feeling well and Mrs. Olson assisted him to the house and put him to bed. While she went to phone for medical aid, Mr. Olson died.

[Jorgen Olson was born at Odda, Hardanger, Norway, Nov. 13, 1853, where he was baptized and confirmed. His parents were Ole and Anna Bustethum.

He emigrated to America in 1871 at the age of 18 years. He first came to Stoughton, Wis., where he stayed only a short time. Then he went to live in Lee county, Ill., for several years. He returned to Norway, but came to America a second time in 1884. This time he settled on a farm in Lincoln township, Hamilton county, Iowa, where he lived until in 1911, when he moved to Ellsworth where he resided until his death.

In 1880 he was united in marriage to Margretta Aga in Chicago, Ill. Six children were born to this union. The wife and three of the children preceded him in death. The children were: Berner, who died at the age of six months; Mrs. Sarah Rickman, who died on Nov. 19, 1930 and Severt Berhart, who died Jan. 19, 1931.

On Sept. 22, 1914, he was united in marriage to Anna Elizabeth Olsen, who together with the surviving children mourn the passing of a beloved husband and father. The children are Ole J. Olson of Brainerd, Mn., Mrs. Otto Lande of Ellsworth and George Olson of Delta, Ia. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. P. J. Espe of Clear Lake, and many other relatives.

Burial was made in Bethany cemetery northeast of Ellsworth.]
