Mrs. Ida Sanford, 85, of Rancho Cordova, Calif., formerly of Ellsworth, died Friday at Rancho Cordova Convalescent home.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran church with the Rev. Harvey Sigurdson officiating and with burial at Homewood cemetery in Ellsworth.

Ida Kallem, daughter of Thorald and Marie Evenson Kallem, was born Dec. 7, 1892 at Pontiac, Ill.

On Oct. 1, 1913, she was married at Ellsworth to Archie Sanford, and the couple farmed south of Ellsworth before moving to Luverne, Iowa where they owned and operated the Lindebak-Sanford grain elevator. They returned to Ellsworth in 1961.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Kathleen) Keil of Merit, Fla., Mrs. Bill (Barbara) Gerhard of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Carl (Jerry) Wright of Rancho Cordova; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frances Sanford.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961 and a son, Willard, who was killed Oct. 30, 1978, in a farm accident at Mille Lac, Minn; by four brothers, Raldolph, Edwin, Alvin and Theodore Kallem, two sisters, Mrs. Anna Carlson and Mrs. Clara Eittreim.

The body will lie in state at the Becker Funeral home until Tuesday morning. She was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran church in 1907.
