Daily Freeman Journal, Monday, July 20, 1964

Funeral services were held Thursday at 10 o'clock in the morning at the Methodist church in LuVerne for Mrs. Jessie Sanford, 73. Rev. Robert Phillips of Vinton, a former pastor, officiated. Burial was in Homewood cemetery at Ellsworth.

Following the burial, lunch was served at the Methodist church here and Rev. Don Leo, pastor of the local church offered prayer.

Those who attended the rites were from Emmetsburg, Cylinder, Clear Lake, Badger, LuVerne, Ellsworth, Britt, Lone Rock, Belmond, Radcliffe, Paullina, Traer in Iowa and Bonita Springs, Florida.

Jessie Satter was the daughter of the late Ida and Andrew Satter and was born at Cylinder, Iowa, on June 1, 1891. She grew to womanhood there and was married to Frank Sanford in Ellsworth. They went to Armstrong where he was a farmer, later moving to LuVerne. Mr. Sanford died in 1955 and she continued to make her home at LuVerne.

Mrs. Sanford was a member of the Methodist church and WSCS, the Cemetery Society and Tuesday Club at LuVerne. She is survived by 9 children, 38 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also one sister, Mrs. Nellie Olson of Ellsworth.

The children are Francis Sanford, Badger, Wayne Sanford, LuVerne, Mrs. Irwin (Genevieve) McGowan of Clear Lake, Robert Sanford, Lancaster, California, Mrs. James (Verda) Trauger, Livermore, Mrs. Allman (Donna) Hovick, Mrs. Norman (Joanne) Larson both of Badger, Mrs. Milton (Jolene) Wilhelm of LuVerne and Mrs. Bobby (Ramona) Caudle of Ellsworth.
