{Margreta Mikkelina Sexy Thompson was born on Oct. 25, 1869, in Lee county, Illinois, her parents being Christen H. Sexy and Margreta Cragwick Sexy. She was baptized by Rev. Takle of the Lutheran church at Lee on Dec. 12 of the same year.

Early in life she sustained the loss of her mother. The family moved to Hamilton county, Iowa, in the spring of 1875. Being the youngest child in a family of seven, she spent some time with an older sister, Anna, in New Mexico. She returned to Ellsworth and made her home with her father who had established the family home on a farm northeast of Ellsworth. On her sixteenth birthday she was confirmed in this congregation by Rev. Michelson, who had recently been instrumental in establishing this congregation and was then serving here as pastor.

Two years later on her eighteenth birthday, Oct. 25, 1889, she was united in marriage to John Thompson of Ellsworth. They established their home on the farm one mile east of Ellsworth and this remained her home throughout the rest of her life, a period of 44 years. She slept away peacefully at home on March 3, 1932, being at this time of death 62 years, 4 months, and 7 days of age.

There are left to mourn her departure the husband and eleven children: Mae, Margaret, Sylvia, William and Ruth at home; Thomas of Ellsworth; Ray of Lake Mills; Harold of Stanhope; James of Minneapolis; Mrs. A. E. Jacobson of Thief River Falls, Minn.; and Martin of Emmetsburg. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. N. P. Olsen, Ellsworth, and Mrs. Anna Gumm, Silver City, N.M. There are also nine grandchildren and a host of more distant relatives and friends who will sincerely mourn her departure.

Interment was made at Homewood Cemetery, Ellsworth.]
