W. Wayne Olson, 72 of Ellsworth died Friday, May 9 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today, May 12 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Rev. Harvey Sigurdson officiated and burial was in Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth.

He was born March 17, 1914 at Ellsworth, the son of Minnie and Omer Olson. He had lived on the same farm for 68 years. He retired in 1979 and remained on the farm.

June 15, 1937 he married Geneva Anderson at Lenexa, Kan.

Mr. Olson was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a former trustee of the church. He served on the Ellworth Co-Op Telephone Exchange board and the board of Bethany Manor at Story City. He was a charter member of the Ellsworth Central Co-op Turkey Producers.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Patricia Bush of Laurinburg, N.C.; Douglas Olson of Williamsburg, Va.; Lauren Olson of Ellsworth, four grandchildren; one sister, Irma Wilson of Lakewood, Calif; a brother, Merlyn Olson of Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two grandchildren.
