Little “Charlie,” second son of Col. Geo. W. and Mrs. Crosley, died early Tuesday morning last, of diptheria, after a painful sickness of several weeks. Although known to be very low, the coming of the messenger was quite unexpected, and the departure of the dear little life came with overwhelming grief to the parents and family. The funeral will take place this p.m. at 3 o’clock (Hamilton Freeman Journal, 9 Jan 1878, 5).
