Mrs. R. M. (Winnie) Rhodes, 83, longtime resident of Webster City died early this morning at the Hamilton County hospital. She had been in failing health the past several years.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. George Eddy officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Winnie Grace Zitterell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Zitterell, was born April 14, 1884, at Wall Lake, Iowa.

She received her education in the schools at Wall Lake and Webster City, later attending Central college at Pella, Iowa. She taught school for several years at Eddyville, Sac City, Blairsburg, Woolstock and Stratford.

She was united in marriage June 5, 1916, to Richard M. Rhodes at Winnepeg, Canada. Following Mr. Rhodes' discharge from the Canadian army, the couple moved to Spokane, Wash., where they resided for six months before moving to Webster City.

Mrs. Rhodes is survived by six children: Mrs. Ron (Harriet) Isaacson, Webster City, James Rhodes, Des Plaines, Ill., Dudley W. Rhodes, Spokane, Wash., Paul Rhodes, Waterloo, M/Sgt. Francis M. Rhodes, stationed with the Air Force in Turkey and a chosen daughter, Pamela Rae Rhodes, Webster City. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sept. 30, 1967, by one son, Neil, who died in infancy; by another son, Richard Roderick Rhodes, who died at the age of six; by her parents and one brother.

Mrs. Rhodes was a member of the First Baptist church of this city.
