Paul Willis Barkema, 78, of Jewell, Iowa passed away December 15, 2014 peacefully in his sleep. He was born December 18, 1935 to Willis and Lena Barkema in Jewell Iowa.

Paul devoted his life to simple passions: the land he dedicatedly farmed and his loving family. He made a lasting impression on everyone he met with his charm, second only to the size of his heart. His strength, mischief, and zest for life will be how he is remembered.

Paul will be forever loved by those he left behind. He is survived by Anna, his wife of 54 years; his children, Steve and Wandy Claude, John and Terry (Claude) Ketter, and Tim and Michelle Barkema; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Timothy Barkema; his mother, Lena Jeanette (Tesdall) Barkema; brother, Wally; and infant brother, David Barkema.

Services and reception will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 18th at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell following the reception.

Viewing will be Wednesday, December 17th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall.
