Lowell K. Hinrichs, 87, of Alden, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Lowell K. Hinrichs will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ, 212 West Street, Alden, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, December 12th at the Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Private family burial will be held at the Alden Township Cemetery, Alden, Iowa at a later date. 641-648-2569

Lowell Keith Hinrichs was born May 14, 1927, in Independence, Iowa to Edward William Hinrichs and Malitta Christina [Lebeck] Hinrichs. He graduated from Harlan High School with the class of 1945, Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lowell was united in marriage to Kathryn Rosa Ellefson on December 30, 1950, at the Memorial Congregational Church in Alden, Iowa. During his life he was a draftsman and shipping coordinator at Prestressed Concrete in Iowa Falls, and worked with his son at Ken’s Wood Products until Katie’s health deteriorated and he became her caregiver. He was a member of the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ, Alden, Iowa; serving on the church board for a while. He was also an avid fan of the Harlan, Iowa Cyclones. Lowell served in the United States Marine Corps from 1945 to 1946, and was trained for the invasion of Japan.

Lowell Keith Hinrichs is survived by his spouse: Kathryn (Katie) Hinrichs of Alden, Iowa; three children: D. Kristian [Patty] Hinrichs of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Kerryn [Mike] Oliver of Alden, Iowa; and Kenyon [Debbie] Hinrichs of Webster City, Iowa, 6 grandchildren: Danielle [Matt] Dunham; Erin [Brett] Bandow; Melanie Hinrichs, Rachel [Kevin Mihalovch] Hinrichs; Mark [Michelle] Oliver; Teresa Hinrichs, and 8 great-grandchildren: Maddie and DJ Dunham; Lilly, Addyson, and Kerrigan Bandow; Tegan and Gracie Oliver; and Jaxson Feeney.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Malitta Hinrichs; two brothers: Elwood Hinrichs and James Hinrichs; and two sisters: Naomi Fisher and Karla Kane.
