Kathleen Mortenson, 75, of Jewell, died on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Jewell United Church of Christ in Jewell. Kathleen will be buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation will be at Jewell United Church of Christ from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Kathleen Mortenson, age 75, of Jewell, IA, died on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Kathleen Joyce (Severson) Mortenson was born April 2, 1939, in Radcliffe, Iowa. She was the daughter of Curtis and Maxine (Hyland) Severson.

She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1957. She attended Central Technical Institute in Kansas City and went to work for Braniff Airways as a ticket sales agent in Des Moines.

On September 4, 1960, she married Richard Mortenson. She and her family moved to Jewell in 1969. She worked at various businesses in Jewell until she retired.

Kathy enjoyed decorating, arts and crafts and her flowers in the summer. Her favorite pastime was her music. She played the organ for various churches for many years. She also enjoyed helping at events at her UCC Church.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Jewell, Iowa; her sons Rick and his wife Amy Mortenson of Janesville, Iowa and Mike and his wife April Mortenson of Jewell, Iowa; and a special granddaughter Katie Mortenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Curtis and Maxine Severson and her daughter Robyn Christie Mortenson in 1984.
