Viola A. Sweazey, 91, of Webster City, died Thursday, October 14, 2010 at the Southfield Wellness Community. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fosters.
Viola Alice Woodall, was born on November 7, 1918 in Webster City, to David and Mildred Jones Woodall. She received her education from the Webster City Community Schools. On February 2, 1935, she married Elwin Sweazey, and to this union, seven children were born. They later divorced. She was employed at Boss Hotel, Franklin Manufacturing, and Crestview Senior Living until her retirement.
Survivors include her daughters, Pat (Terry) Stephenson of Eagle Grove; Midge (Dick) Tudor of Johnston; Kathleen "Sparky" Hungate of Fullerton, CA; Candy Biggs of Webster City; son, Edwin"Bub" Sweazey of Webster City; son-in-law, Don Williams of DeWitt; daughter-in-law, Sharon Sweazey of Clarion; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, step grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and sister, Gladys Underwood.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Charmaine Williams; a son, Elwin "Scoot" Sweazey; brothers, Russell, Harold, and Gail Woodall; sister Buelah "Dolly" Burnett; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; daughter-in-law, Mary Sweazey; and special friend, John Thompson.
Grandma Vi enjoyed her family, working in the flower garden, playing cards, and visiting with her family and friends.
