Lila Arends, 81, of Stanhope, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Fosters Chapel with Pastor Suzie Moore officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Foster Funeral HomeLila Arends, 81, of Webster City, died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Israel Hospice House at Ames. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.
Lila Jean McLaughlin, daughter of Lyle and Alice Marshall McLaughlin, was born August 31, 1929 at Schaller, Iowa. She graduated from Stanhope School in 1948. On September 10, 1950, she married Clinton C. Arends at Sac City. The couple farmed north of Stanhope. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Arends is survived by her husband, Clinton; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Peggy Arends of Webster City; Steve Arends and special friend Bobbi Spencer of Stanhope; daughter, Kathy Drevs of Ames; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Mayberry of Montgomery, AL; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jan Hibben.
Lila was a member of the Stanhope Parish. The people who knew and loved Lila knew of her great love of family and friends, cooking and farm life.
