Alcida O. Jeffers, 83, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, December 25, 2009 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Doerr officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center and prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Alcida Odola Garcia, daughter of Ulyses and Aurelia Orzon Garcia, was born June 24, 1926 in Puerto Mont, Chile. She received her elementary education at Puerto Mont. She received her B.A. in Nursing from the Universidad de Chile at Santiago and in 1949 received her Masters in Nursing. She worked for a North American Mining Company hospital and later returned to Santiago and taught at the university. Many job opportunities were available but she chose to come to Webster City and the Hamilton County Public Hospital in 1955. On June 6, 1959, she married Gerald D. Jeffers at Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City. She also was employed by the Muscatine Migrant Committee at Des Moines. Mr. Jeffers died on December 10,1972. She had been residing at Friendship Haven for the past 2 years.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Jeffers of Chicago, IL; Kevin (Cindy) Jeffers of Webster City; daughter, Janet Bergman of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Cameo, Ryan, Steven and Aaron Jeffers; Alexandra and Katharine Bergman; sister, Haydee Garcia of Argentina.

In addition to her husband, Gerald,she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bradley Bergman; her parents; brother, Ulyses (Lalo) Garcia; sister, Emilia Wangler.

Mrs. Jeffers was a member of the First Baptist Church in Webster City, P.E.O. and Webster City Women’s Club.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association.
