Veryle L. Daniels, 95, of Duncombe, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Chapel,with Pastors Gina Spohnheimer and Dot Hasler officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Township Cemetery at Duncombe. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday.

Veryle Lucille Hottman, daughter of George and Dorothy Mehring Hottman, was born October 4, 1914 at Fort Dodge. She attended Butler Elementary School, Junior High and Senior High, all in Fort Dodge, graduating in 1933. On August 8, 1935, she
married Kenneth L. Daniels at Papillon, NE. The couple farmed south of Duncombe. She was a homemaker and helped Kenneth with the farming operations. Mr. Daniels died July 6, 1982. She continued to reside on the family farm.

Mrs. Daniels is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Marilyn Daniels of Duncombe; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Edward Zabel of Cottage Grove, WI; grandchildren, Deb and Dan Bahrenfuss of Webster City; Steven and Kendra Daniels of Duncombe; Terry and Regina Daniels of Webster City; Jeff and Kim Daniels of Webster City; Justin and Alyssa Daniels of Duncombe; Kimberly and John Moser of Oregon, WI; Larry Zabel of Cottage Grove,WI; 16 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great- grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Mary Hottman of Fort Dodge; Darwin and Shirley Hottman of Champaign, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Lee Hubben of Eagle Grove; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by grandson, Edward Zabel, Jr.; her parents; sisters, Janice Rossing and Audrey Till; brothers, Winston, in infancy, Gary and Marlin Hottman.

She was a former member of the Epworth United Methodist Church; was an active member of the Duncombe United Methodist Church, were she served in many capacities and was also an active member of the United Methodist Women; she enjoyed genealogy and was able to trace her lineage to the Mayflower and beyond to Europe; she belonged to the New England Historical Genealogical Society in Boston, MS for over 45 years; the Crawford County Historical Society in Pennsylvania and the Bureau County Historical Society in Illinois; she was also known for her articles of local history, the Duncombe Centennial, Homer History and early ministers of Webster County; she loved to sew, watch NASCAR racing and watch the wild birds.
