Alison Clayton, age 84, of Jewell, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Parish Center in Jewell. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, 2009 with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. at the Good Shepherd Parish Center in Jewell. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Becker Funeral and Cremation Service has been entrusted with arrangements.

Alison Mary Coady was born May 22, 1924 at Monument Beach, Massachusetts to Kempton Joseph and Emma (O'Connell) Coady. She grew up and graduated from high school in the Monument Beach area. Alison then attended college. On January 26, 1946 Alison married William Junior Clayton in Sandwich, Massachusetts. They moved to Jewell in 1952 where they owned and operated the variety store. Alison was a secretary for South Hamilton Community Schools for 20 years. She served on the Jewell Park Board for 12 years and was a 25 year member of the Jewell Federated Women's Club. Alison had been a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader. She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Alison is survived by her daughter, Barbara (David) Young; son, Jon Clayton of Rohnert Park, California; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brother,James (Lucile) Coady of Monument Beach, MA; and a brother-in-law, Paul Riley of West Chester, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill); sons, Paul and Bill; sister, Jean Riley; and her brother and sister-in-law, Kempton and Katherine Coady.
