Ethel Tapper, 93, Webster City, died October 4, 2009 at the Hamilton County Hospital, Webster City, Iowa. Ethel requests no visitation or public service and wished the arrangements to be private by the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, Webster City.
Ethel Smid Tapper, daughter of Frauka and George Smid, was born October 15, 1915 on a farm east of Kamrar, Iowa. Ethel attended a rural school in that area and belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Kamrar. She married Walter M. Tapper on November 28, 1938. They resided in Webster City, Iowa, throughout their lives. Ethel was a homemaker for her family and a bookkeeper to the Tapper Truckline. She enjoyed her leisure time playing gospel songs and hymns on the piano. Her favorite pieces were The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art. Other interests were playing Bridge and Canasta and visiting with friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Roberta Johnson, Des Moines, and Barb Neibauer and son-in-law, Ed Neibauer, Sun City West, Ariz., and her five grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren and her brother Clarence Smid, Chester.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; her parents, Frauka and George Smid, and sisters, Gertrude Zeman and Harmka Smid, and brothers Bill and Edward Smid.
