Betty Greenfield Terpstra, age 81, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Villa Del Sol Nursing Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Richard Sipe officiating. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery in Kamrar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at vogelfuneralhomes.com . Arrangements have been entrusted to Pursel Davis Funeral Home.
Betty was born February 4, 1928 in Story City, Iowa, the daughter of James and Bertha Michaelson Greenfield. On December 28, 1985, she was united in marriage to Richard Terpstra at the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown.
Betty was employed at the Randall Savings Bank for 8 years and Melbourne Savings Bank for 35 years until retiring in 1996. She lived in Melbourne until moving to Marshalltown in 2002. Betty was a member of the Birthday Club and 50 Plus Club of Melbourne and First Baptist Church of Marshalltown. She was also active in the Builders Sunday school class in the church.
Betty will be missed by her sister, Marian Flora of Marshalltown, sister-in-laws, Bonnie Greenfield of Kamrar, Betty (Paul) Peterson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Randy (Sally) Greenfield of Kamrar, Rhonda (Mark) Fiscus of Ames, Lisa (Tim) Robson of Portland, Ore., James (Phyllis) Greenfield of Williams, Troy (Tammy) Greenfield of Webster City, Jay (Tammy) Flora of Marshalltown, Jan (Joe) Welty of Frederick, Md. , Jill (Jon) Brockman of Melbourne; 20 great nieces and nephews, 2 great great nieces, and many cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Richard on April 27, 1992, brother, Roy Greenfield, and brother in law, James Flora.
