Lewis E. Henderson

Story City-Funeral service for Lewis E. Henderson was February 9 at St. Petri Lutheran Church with Rev. Ocee Johnson officiating.

Burial was in Mamrelund Cemetery east of Randall. Pallbearers were Arnold Erickson, Kenneth Skeie, Sylvan Skeie, Jack Wierson, James Thompson and Henry Skeie. Mrs. Robert Hermanson sang, accompanied by Stanley Wierson.

Lewis Erick Henderson, son of Oscar and Melinda Henderson, was born June 10, 1880 in Scott Township, Hamilton County. He died Feb. 3 at the age of 75.

He was married to Rachel Bertina Ponsness, April 3, 1901. The couple had a daughter, Mrs. Laila Caltvedt, Ames. Mrs. Henderson died in 1905.

He was married to Emma Bertina Braland, Feb. 23, 1910. She died in 1932.

The following children survive; Mrs. Archie (Myrtle) Hetland, Modesto, Calif.; Orvie, Webster City; Lester, Hancock; and Mrs. Caltvedt. Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive, along with two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Skeie, Story City and Mrs. Bert Thompson, Roland; a brother, Morris, Austin, Minn.; three half-brothers, Richard, Long Beach, Calif.; Burton, St. Louis Park, Minn.; and Lincoln, Minneapolis; and two half-sisters, Mrs. John Wierson, Story City and Mrs. Ruby Reugsegger, Stockton, Calif.

Mr. Henderson spent his boyhood in Scott Township, was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Randall in 1894, farmed until 1936 and then moved to Marshalltown. He spent the past four years in Modesto, Calif., where he died after an illness of three months.
