Joyce Jones, 63, of Webster City, died Monday, July 13, 2009 at the University of Iowa Medical Center at Iowa City. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. A private family burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Joyce Diane Draper, daughter of Keith and Lavonne Welp Draper, was born July 12, 1946 at Webster City. She received her education in Webster City school system graduating in 1964. She attended Blair Business College at Colorado Springs for 2 years. She married and later divorced William "Gerry" Jones at Colorado Springs. They resided at Colorado Springs, where she was employed at the Air Force Academy as a secretary. In early 1972, they returned to Webster City and she was employed as office manager for Luppes Transport and Iowa Tank Lines.
Joyce is survived by life partner, Bruce Coleman of Webster City; sons and daughter-in-law, Col. Shel and Dynette Jones of Woodbridge, VA; Dr. Keith and Chandra Jones of Norfolk, VA; grandsons, Colton and Conner Jones; parents, Keith and Lavonne Draper of Webster City; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Andy Long of Oskaloosa; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jan Draper of Stillwater, MN; 3 nephews; a great niece and a great nephew.
Joyce was preceded in death by her grandparents. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Hamilton County Saddle Club and a Pony Express member. Joyce loved the outdoors and received much pleasure in nature and animals.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hamilton County Saddle Club, attention: Bruce Coleman, 1260 Kendall Young Road, Webster City, Iowa 50595, in memory of Joyce Jones.
