Doris Hubbard Ellis, 81 of Webster City, a former Stanhope resident, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House at Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fosters from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.

Doris Ellen Staley, daughter of Alonzo and Ada Wight Staley was born May 28, 1928 at Boone. She received her education in the Webster City School System. On July 1, 1944, she married Francis Eugene Hubbard at Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. She started the B & B Caf with her sister, Ethel McCollough in 1962 then retiring in 1990. Mr. Hubbard died February 28, 1983. She continued to reside at Webster City. On June 11, 1988, she married John Mark Ellis at Bloomfield. The couple resided at Stanhope,where they owned and operated the Stanhope Hardware store and later Antique Shop. Mr. Ellis died December 19, 2003.

Doris is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Marilyn Hubbard; Jerry Hubbard; Kelly and Marene Hubbard, all of Webster City; step-children, Diana and Richard Strong of Maple Hill; Carol Fisher of Webster City; Stacy and Christopher Woodward of Estherville; Michael Ellis of Webster City; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law,Elizabeth and Joe Lepper of Springfield, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Marilyn Staley of Tucson, AZ; special nephew, Mike McCollough and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Mary Hubbard; sister, Ethel McCollough and granddaughter, Terri Newman.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church; former member of Stanhope Parish; Moose Family Center at Webster City; Stanhope Sassy Lassies (Red Hat Ladies);Stanhope Coffee Group; Faith United Methodist Women's Circle; Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary; Stanhope Development Group, winning the award "Stanhope Citizen of the Year" in 2002.
