John Meneses, 70, of Webster City, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Fosters Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Mike Kroona officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191.

Rodolfo John Meneses, son of Mario and Edna Ferrer Meneses, was born January 19, 1939 at Parkway Hospital at Manhatten, New York. He graduated from high school in New York. In November of 1956, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and Served with the 101 Airborne Division. He moved to Iowa in 1978. On August 20, 1982, he married Marilyn Marie Bliek Dumbaugh at Webster City. While living in New York, he worked for a union that built the Twin Towers. At Frigidaire/Electrolux, he worked in maintenance in the press department. While semi-retired, he drove semi for the United Cooperative of Webster City.

John is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Denise Dumbaugh of Denver, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Katie Dumbaugh of Dunlap, IA; grandchildren, Mackenzie and Landon John Dumbaugh; brothers, Rene (Raul) Meneses and his wife, Faye, of Peekskill, NY; Sadja Meneses of Bronx, NY; sisters, Yara Dias of North Wales, PA; Diana Villagomez of Mount Kesco, NY; nieces and nephews, Lisa Steficek, Ricky Dias; Rene Andre Meneses; Leslie and Karl Lebitsch; several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a member of the American Legion Post # 191. During his military career, he was sent into Little Rock, AR to help combat school segregation which left a life long impression on him.
