Amos B. Munson, 91, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, November 9, 2007, at the Greenleaf Health Care Center Fort Dodge. Services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with the Rev. John Fuchs officiating. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City. The visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Amos is survived by his sister Viola Jane Armstrong, Eagle Grove; nieces and nephews and his good friends Veronica Averill, Tim Averill and Amy Bailey. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, a sister Stella and a brother Marion.

Amos Benjamin Munson, the son of Benhart and Anna (Mickelson) Munson, was born March 18, 1916, in Kensett, Iowa. Amos received his education. On December 20, 1940, Amos was united in marriage to Helen Grant in Eagle Grove. Amos farmed for many years near Kanawha until being injured in a farm accident in 1949. He moved into Fort Dodge in 1952 where he had since lived. Amos was also employed with Gadbury Plumbing where he worked in the shop and was known as ‘Famous Amos.’

Helen preceded Amos in death in 2003.

Amos was a member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed square dancing and woodworking. He was known for his rocking horses.
