Margaret Kennedy Rasdal 78, of Fayetteville, NC, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2007 at the Highland House Care Center at Fayetteville. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. Scott Boone presiding. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the Mass at the church. Arrangemnets were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Margaret Ellen Kennedy, daughter of Nicholas and Margaret Hall Kennedy, was born May 20, 1929 at Webster City. She received her education in Webster City schools, graduating from Lincoln High in 1947. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College, graduating in 1949. She taught at Duncombe School at Fort Dodge and at a rural school near Webster City. She was crowned Miss Greater Webster City in the late 1940's and represented Webster City at the Aquatennial at Minneapolis, MN. From 1953 to1981, she was married to Lt. Col. Robert W. Rasdal (USMC-retired). While a Marine Corps wife, she lived in many states and in Italy. Despite her many travels, she never really left her hometown of Webster City. She always recreated that small town environment by establishing friendships with only local merchants and always doing things to help her neighbors. While living at High Point, NC, she volunteered her time with the American Red Cross, taught at Christ the King Catholic School and was precinct chairwoman for the Democratic Party. She retired from teaching in 1983 and moved to Southern Pines, NC. In 2001, she moved to Fayetteville to be close to her daughter and her family.

Mrs. Rasdal is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Max Mahlke of Fayetteville; son, Mark Rasdal of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Alexandra Rasdal of Dunedin, FL; Robert and Sarah Mahlke of Fayetteville; sister, Patricia Donovan of Andover, MN; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alice Chambers; Kathleen Rhodes; brother, James Kennedy.
