Everett F. Stahl, 90, of Webster City, died Sept. 26, 2007 at Crestview Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5-8 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191.

Everett Frederick Stahl, son of Fred and Maude Rutledge Stahl, was born Sept. 5, 1917 on a farm west of Webster City. He received his education in rural schools west of Webster City. During W.W.II, he served with the U.S. Army in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres of Action for 4 1/2 years. He also received 2 Purple Heart Awards and 2 Bronze Battle Stars. On Aug. 27, 1943, he married Dorothy May Kolbeck at Santa Barbara, CA. Following his discharge, he returned to Webster City where he farmed for two years. He then started working at the Webster City Power Plant. He transferred to the Webster City Street Department in 1949 and retired after more than 31 years of employment, due to failing health. Dorothy died Dec. 16, 1989. He had resided at Crestview Senior Living since November of 2005.

Everett is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Shirley Stahl of Webster City; Joyce and Paul Colyer of Maumelle, AR; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and MelanieStahl of Meridian, MS; granddaughters, Stephanie and Brittany Stahl of Meridian; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Barbara Stahl of Lincoln, CA; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Baker of Long Beach, Ca; Carol and Marc De Nicolai of Desert Hot Springs, CA; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Stahl and sister, Jean Koestner; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Koestner; James Baker and Charles Story; sister-in-law, Avis Stahl.

He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Iowa Trumpeter Swan Restoration Project, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasant Forever, American Legion Post # 191, Webster City Senior Citizens and the Birthday Club. He received Numerous awards for his volunteer work with wildlife. He also received the Hardees Hometown Hero Award. The Department of Natural Resources and Hamilton County Conservation gave him the Governors award for Wildlife Recognition.
