Emma Knickerbocker, age 91, of Jewell, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at the United Church of Christ in Jewell. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation is Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Becker Funeral and Cremation Service in Jewell.

Emma Margaret Headley was born January 23, 1916 in Jewell to Emery and Anna (Barkema) Headley. Emma grew up in the Jewell area, graduating from Jewell High School. On February 11, 1938 Emma married Burton “Kirk” Knickerbocker. They farmed in the Webster City, Blairsburg, and Williams area. Emma worked at the hatchery, mink plant, and Gem Café. She was a past member of the Harmony club of Williams and was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jewell.

Emma is survived by her grandchildren, Jacquin (David) Read of Stanhope, Kirk Knickerbocker of Jewell, and Shawn Knickerbocker of Williams; five great-grandchildren, Brett and Laura Read, Gary, Ashley, and Lee Knickerbocker; and a daughter-in-law, Glenda Knickerbocker of Williams.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kirk in 1971; her son, Gary Lee Knickerbocker in 1981; brothers, Howard, Orville, and Kenneth; and sisters, Marie and Cecilia.
