John Swon, 93, North Carolina

John Swon, 93, passed away on Aug. 23, 2008 at Southern Pines, NC. The son of John and Inez (Toler) Swon, he was born at Auxvasse, Mo. The family moved to Webster City. John graduated from Lincoln High School then attended Simpson College and returned to Webster City to be a stockboy at F.W. Woolworth store. He continued with the company, managing many stores and becoming an executive with F.W. Woolworth in New York City. He married Abigail Casey of Bemedji, Minn. Upon retirement, he moved to Pinehurst, NC, and was an avid golfer.

His parents and his wife Abby preceded him in death.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Ellis "Doc" and Kathy Swon, Webster City; sons John III (Lynn), grandson John IV all of Edina, Minn., James (Cass) and granddaughters Kimberly and Jennifer, Jerry (Jane) and grandsons John, Jerry, Thomas and Chris, and daughter Suzanne (Craig) Spengeman, and daughters Christy and Sandra; four great-grandchildren, and two nephews, Gary Swon of California, and Kyle Swon of Webster City.

He was devoted to the Swon family and friends. He will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held Nov. 28 at Pinehurst, NC.
