LaVonne Hanline, 86, of Olathe, KS, formerly of Jewell, Kansas City and Ixtapa, Mexico, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Kansas City Hospice House. Cremation Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Elim Lutheran Church, Randall. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell.

LaVonne was born November 15, 1921, near Stratford, the oldest child of Talton (Ben) and Ruth (Pauline) Smith Reese. She graduated from Jewell High School class of 1939. She received her teacher's certificate from Webster City Junior College in 1941 and taught in one room rural schools. Married to John V. Hanline, March 25, 1945 at Memorial Lutheran Chapel at college town in Ames, IA. In 1947 they started Hanline Photography Studio, Marshall, MN where LaVonne worked as a photographic artist. They moved to Overland Park, KS, in 1954, and then founded Associated Photographers, Inc, Kansas City, MO in 1956. LaVonne was an avid golfer, gardener and traveler. She was a past member of Milburn Country Club, the Kansas City Athletic Club and the Kansas City Club. She was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Olathe. LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Bo and Howard Reese; and a son John (Jack) R. Hanline.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara Burkindine and husband Hall, Olathe; sons Mike (Diana) Hanline, Eden Prairie, MN, and Chuck Hanline, Olathe; daughter-in-law Billie Hanline, Quincy, WA; sister Betty Halleland and husband Herb, Blairsburg; brother Bill (Joyce) Reese, DesMoines; sister-in-law Helen Reese, Rochester, MN; five grandchildren - Chris, JJ, Vicki, Michelle and Tim; and numerous nieces and nephews.

LaVonne Hanline was a soft spoken, classy, wise, gutsy, strong woman.
