Virgil Jorgensen, 82, of Webster City, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Mike Kroona officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the service at the church. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191.

Virgil Millard Jorgensen, son of Andrew and Helga Bakke Jorgensen, was born March 27, 1926 at Vienna, South Dakota. He received his education at Vienna and was baptized and confirmed in the Pleasant Lutheran Church at Vienna. During W.W. II, he served with the U.S. Navy. On February 14, 1951,he married Gladys M. Hansen at Sioux Falls, SD. The couple resided at Sioux Falls. He was employed at Sioux Falls with
Kolman Manufacturing. They moved to Webster City where he was employed at Modern Farm Systems as plant superintendent until 1981 when he started as plant superintendent for Beam Manufacturing, retiring in 1986.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughters and son-in-law, Vickie Hardin of LaVista, NE; Bonnie and Andrew Wiles of Las Cruces, NM; sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Karen Jorgensen of Omaha, NE; Bruce and Rita Jorgensen of Webster City; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Vernal Jorgensen of Sioux Falls; sister, Linda Anderson of Lake Preston, SD; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and 2 sisters.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; American Legion Post # 191; he enjoyed playing cards; having coffee with his friends and especially liked the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
