Cora Marie Jensen, daughter of Henry and Louisa (Ahrens) Helvig, was born north of Iowa Falls, Iowa on December 26, 1905. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended schools in Hampton, Iowa and Ladysmith and Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1924. She then received her degree and taught in country schools in Wisconsin.

On a visit to her sister, Anne Alsager in Story City, Iowa she met Hans Juhl Jensen and was married in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 14, 1930. They farmed east of Jewell for 67 years. Cora was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Church and the Women's Mission Society.

Cora Marie Jensen, age 102, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, exactly 11 years after the death of her husband Hans, at Bethany Manor in Story City. She had been a resident there since November 2007. A family burial was held on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Sandy Anenson officiating.

Cora is survived by her daughters-Marilyn Reynolds of Atlantic, Iowa and Cathy Jensen of Ankeny, Iowa; three grandchildren-Randy Reynolds of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Diana (Dale) Rozmiarck of Papillion, Nebraska and Jeff (Diane) Reynolds of Omaha, Nebraska, four great grandchildren-Darin (Michelle) Foster, Jill and Tyler Reynolds, and Amanda Rozmiarek; and one great great grandchild-Kami Mae Foster; one sister- Ruth Lyyski of Reno, Nevada; and one brother-Robert Helvig of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband-Hans, her sisters-Anna Alsager, Viola Helvig, Lenora Payse, and Henrietta Childs; a son-in-law - Duane Reynolds; and a grandson-Dustin Foster.

Cora was a loving wife, mother, and neighbor. She was an excellent farm partner and manager. Blessed by her memory.

Everyone is invited to a pre-service coffee at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethesda Lutheran Church and then the memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2008. Memorials may be sent to Bethesda Lutheran or Bethan Manor.
