Sandra Custis, age 48, of Story City, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the United Church of Christ in Jewell. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church. Arrangements entrusted with Becker Funeral and Cremation Service.

Sandra Kay Sargent was born December 14, 1959, in Webster City to Willard S. and Sharon Kay (Santee) Sargent. Sandy graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1978 and from University of Northern Iowa in 1982 with a degree in elementary education. On November 28, 1992, Sandy married Douglas Glen Custis in Jewell. Sandy worked for Pella in Story City until they closed in March. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Jewell. Sandy loved to sew.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Doug of Story City; her parents, Bill and Sherry Sargent of Jewell; brothers, Rodney Sargent of Zearing and Alan Sargent of Jewell; her sister, Debbie Sargent of Ames; and her mother-in-law, Judy Custis of Greencastle, Indiana.
