Eldred R. Lunquist, 94, of Webster City, a former Stanhope farmer, died Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Crestview Senior Living Apartments. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at Foster’s Chapel, with Pastor Suzie Moore officiating. Burial will be in the South Marion Cemetery, southwest of Stanhope. Visitation will be two hours before the service.

Eldred Reuben Lundquist, son of Victor and Nettie Sealine Lundquist, was born February 22, 1914 at Stanhope. He graduated from Stanhope High School. On August 19, 1938, he married Harriet Peterson at Stratford. The couple farmed 2 miles southwest of Stanhope for over 60 years. In 2001, they moved to Crestview Senior Living Apartments. They had wintered at Casa Grande, AZ for the past 20 years.

Eldred is survived by his wife, Harriet; son and daughter-in-law, Harlan and Debbie Lundquist of Stanhope; grandsons and spouses, Andrew and Wendy Lundquist of Stanhope; Scott and Alyssa Lundquist of McCallsburg; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jordan, Taylor, Madisen, Masen and Maia Lundquist; sister, Doris Chicken of Webster City; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Roger and Robert Lundquist, in infancy; daughter, Elizabeth Lundquist in 2001; sister, Marie Nelson; brother, Conrad Lundquist.

Eldred attended Stanhope Parish. He was a member of the Stanhope Lions Club and was very active in community events, especially Watermelon Days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Stanhope Library.
