Gwendolyn Adix,97, formerly of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Becker Funeral Home in Jewell. Burial will follow at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. A luncheon will be served at the United Methodist Church in Ellsworth following the graveside service.

Gwendolyn Virginia Stephens was born November 24, 1910 at Mora, Minnesota to Arthur and Virginia (Kaslow) Stephens. She grew up in Minnesota, Iowa, and Kansas. She attended college and taught school. On April 4, 1932 Gwen married Howard Adix in Kansas City, Kansas. They farmed near Ogden and Ellsworth, retiring to Ellsworth. She has been a resident of Bethany Manor for nine years. Gwen was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ellsworth. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Gwen is survived by three children, Stephen Howard (Ruth) Adix of Port Charlotte, Florida, Stanley Louis (Janet) Adix of Ellsworth, and Rosalyn Joan (Harland) Butler of Webster City; grandchildren, Dr. Michael Adix, Linda Foster, Daniel Adix, Richard Adix, Wanda Adix, Donald Adix, Maureen Carver, Melissa Gale, Kelly Butler, Michael Butler, and Ryan Butler; 24 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard in 1996; her step-father, Peter Schierholz; and a brother, Kaslow Stephens.
