Obituary of Charley Henderson

Charley Henderson of Lyle, Minnesota, was born January 26, 1888 in Hamilton County, Iowa, to Christian and Dorothy Henderson. He lived his younger years in Iowa around the Story City and Roland communities. He attended school in Hamilton County and was confirmed in the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. He worked as a farmer in Story County and also served in the U.S. Army.

He was married, and leaves one son, Curtis; a daughter-in-law, Leona; and five grandchildren, Carrol, Linda, Jean, Julie, and Donald, all of Zearing, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by one son, Melbourne, who died in infancy; his parents and two sisters, Hannah and Ada. He is also survived by two sisters, Kate (Mrs. Severt Britson) of Roland and Bertha (Mrs. Ray Johnson) of Lemon Grove, Calif.; and five brothers, Peter of Roland, Norman of San Pablo, Calif., Lewis, Melvin, and Arthur, all of Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Henderson spent the last 40 years of his life at Lyle, Minn., where he worked as a farmer and a carpenter. He had been a patient at the U.S. Veterans Hospital at St. Paul for six weeks before he passed away from a heart attack.

Funeral services were held at the Kessler & Maguire Funeral Home at St. Paul, Minn., December 23, with the Rev. M.B. Tollefsrud officiating. Interment was in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery at St. Paul, Minn.
