FUNERAL SERVICES HELD LAST SUNDAY
FORMER RESIDENT OF NORTH OF ROLAND DIED IN MINNESOTA HOSPITAL

Christian Henderson who lived on a farm north of Roland for many years, but who has made his home in Des Moines and Austin, Minn. since retiring from the farm, died in a hospital at Austin last Friday, August 8. Funeral services were held from Salem church in Roland last Sunday afternoon. Rev. J.N. Sandven preaching the funeral service and interment was made in Mamrelund cemetery near Randall.

Christian Henderson was born in Hamilton county on August 1, 1861, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. Lars Henderson, being 63 years old at the time of his death. On August 6, 1885, he was married to Dora Chelsvig, who survives him, to which union ten children were born, nine of whom are living. Charley, Peter, Malvin, Norman and Arthur of Austin, Minn., Mrs. S.O. Britson of Roland, Mrs. F.B. Campfield, Mrs. Ray Johnson and Lewis Henderson of Des Moines. One daughter, Mrs. Tom Erickson died some time ago. He leaves 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Henderson was an old pioneer of Scott Township, having lived across the line in Hamilton County continuously for 51 years. After retiring from the farm he moved to Des Moines where he lived for seven years and five years ago moved to Austin, Minn. where he lived until called by death. All the children, with the exception of son Peter, who could not leave on the account of illness, were in attendance at the funeral Sunday. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Chelsvig and sons, Charley and Raymond and daughter Evelyn, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chelsvig, all of Goodell, Mr. and Mrs. Oley Sharpe, Mr. and Mrs. Victor De Lano, Mrs. Anna Jacobson of Belmond, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sjurson and daughter, Beatrice and Mr. Hans Sjurson of Eagle Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Johnson and baby, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Campfied and Velma, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gallagher and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Henderson and family, Tom Erickson, Mrs. Charley Kilbourne and family of Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. O.K. Hovland, Mrs. Anna Hovland and Miss Louise Henderson of Story City.
