Mrs. Homer Palmer Dies February 10th

Rev. F.W. Dieterich conducted the services. Pallbearers were Harry O’Brien, Frank Graham, Herman Scherer, Melvin Williams, Ralph Smith and Ray Carothers. Draper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lydia Sarah Malissa Collins, the daughter of Abel Collins and Lydia Bibler Adams Collins, was born in the state of Iowa (Hamilton County) on April 29, 1870, and departed this life at her home near Florence, Kansas on February 10, 1944, at the age of 73 years, 9 months and 19 days.
She came to Kansas when five years old. At the age of twenty she was married to Homer Palmer, on January 1, 1890.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Homer Palmer, one brother, Abel Collins of Meade, Kansas, and a number of nieces and nephews. The one child that was born to Mr. and Mrs. Palmer, died in infancy.
The paramount interest of Mrs. Palmer was her home. Her love for flowers, which one always found blooming therein, cheered many an ill friend and were also contributed on funeral occasions.
Neighbors are generous with their comments regarding her friendly spirit and helpfulness.
Among those from out-of-town attending the funeral service were Mrs. Nettie Oakes of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Grace Gilleland of Springfield, Missouri, nieces of Mrs. Palmer; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Palmer of Newton, and Abel Collins of Meade, KS.
