William E. Soppeland

William E. Soppeland, the son of Osmund and Margaret Sexy Soppeland was born October 19, 1921 and died March 8, 1982.

He received his early education at the Ellsworth High School and served with the Navy in World War II. He was married to Phyllis Jean Duff on March 15, 1953, in Des Moines. They made their home in Ellsworth for a short time before moving to Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota in 1957. In 1969 they moved to Spencer where he was employed by CF Industries, Inc., presently serving as Assistant Superintendant.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, the V.F.W., and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Spencer, 2 sons, a daughter, one grandson, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Hage of Radcliffe. He is also survived by two step-brothers, Wilmer Hanson of Jewell and Orlin Hanson of Nevada, and one step-sister, Mildred Thorngren of Pilot Mound.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer with burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Military graveside services were conducted by the Ellsworth Legion Post.
